My Engagement within the Royal Belgian Rowing Federation (KBR/FRBA)

My involvement with the Royal Belgian Rowing Federation (KBR) began in 2004 and marked the start of a long‑standing and profound commitment to the development of rowing in Belgium. In the early years, I served as Secretary‑General, where I was responsible for administrative operations, international relations and supporting the sporting structures of the federation.

From 2009 onward, I held the position of Vice‑President, which allowed me to contribute more directly to policy development, strategic planning and the overall growth of the federation. This experience paved the way for my appointment in 2013 as President of the KBR. During my presidency, I guided the federation through important phases of professionalisation, modernisation and international cooperation.

In 2025, I assumed a dual role as Vice‑President and Honorary President, enabling me to continue offering my knowledge and expertise to the federation while supporting and mentoring a new generation of leaders.
Alongside my leadership roles within the KBR, I have been continuously active on the international stage since 2004. I participate each year in the Ordinary Congress of World Rowing, which takes place during the World Championships. These congresses are key moments for international coordination, policy development and the representation of Belgian interests.
Since 2005, I have also attended every edition of the Quadrennial Congress of World Rowing, held in various cities around the world. These congresses have taken place in cities such as Dubrovnik, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Tokyo, in an online format during the pandemic, and most recently in Lausanne. These gatherings allow me to contribute to shaping the global vision and future of rowing while strengthening Belgium’s position on the international scene.
My long‑standing involvement within the KBR reflects my deep commitment to the sport. I strongly believe in sound governance, structural professionalisation and the sustained support of athletes and officials. The combination of my national leadership roles and my international engagement remains a driving force throughout my sporting career.
